IPPP hosts event on gun policy in the U.S.

There are few debates in America more heated than the one surrounding guns. There is little doubt the nation suffers a severe gun violence epidemic; the public health contours of this problem are also well documented. Whether and to what extent a policy response is needed on this issue however is at a standstill.

Professor Firmin DeBrabander, author of Do Guns Make Us Free? (Yale University Press, 2015), will examine several gun rights policies, including Open Carry, Campus Carry, and Stand your Ground, arguing that they are actually a threat to freedom and democracy. The address will be followed by comments by Professor Jeremy Mayer, Schar School of Policy and Government, George Mason University, and Kristin Brown, Chief Strategy Officer, Brady Campaign & Center to Prevent Gun Violence.
